Description

Imaged Neptune on the night of September 2, 2023 under above average seeing and above average transparency.  Neptune's disc had a diameter of 2.4" and a visual magnitude of +7.8 at this time.  The was my first attempt at imaging Neptune.  I was pretty excited to locate this small (~12 pixels across the disk with my imaging setup), dim planet and capture an image.

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut filter, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture with gain=400/exposure=150 ms. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 20% of ~1000 frames captured over 150 seconds. Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6.  De-rotated image in WinJupos.

Original version:  Neptune in OSC RGB at 04:47 UTC
